Dubai real estate developer Nakheel was building an aquarium shark tunnel at their Atlantis hotel. How to show it off before it was built? With a virtual video shark tunnel of course!
Visitors walked through a tunnel made up of 15 flat screen monitors.
We shot footage in the real shark tunnel at the Newport Aquarium, using four RED 4k cameras, each featuring a rare Zeiss 8mm Rectilinear ultra wide angle lens. These lenses were needed because they offer a wide-screen view without the fisheye distortion seen with normal ultra wide angle lenses. And even though we were in an aquarium, we didn't want fisheye!
The footage from the four cameras was composited into a single giant image, and then divided up to play on all of the individual monitors.
